Curriculum and Research Strategist

CLIR is currently seeking candidates for a newly created position of Curriculum and Research Strategist. The Curriculum and Research Strategist will be responsible for coordinating the planning, design, and delivery of online and face-to-face education and training across the programs of CLIR, including the activities of the Digital Library Federation Program. He or she will work principally on the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and the DuraSpace/ARL/DLF E-Science Institute.

These initiatives have both face-to-face and online components and involve working with busy professionals seeking to improve leadership skills, build productive collaborations, and nurture and sustain their awareness of current developments affecting libraries, research, and teaching in the context of higher education. Each program has a special focus on research data curation. The Curriculum and Research Strategist will work with teams of colleagues who contribute to both the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and the E-Science Institute, supporting them as well as ensuring the coherence, consistency, and efficiency of their efforts.

Qualifications
Required:

Advanced training in education, instructional technology, instructional design, or other relevant advanced degree;
Experience with planning, delivery, and assessment of both face-to-face and online instruction programs for adult learners;
An ability to create and edit web-based content, including multimedia;
A demonstrated record of successful collaboration;
Strong organizational and project management experience;
Strong research and strategic planning skills;
An ability to work independently and take initiative in ways that advance long-term goals;
An ability to thrive in a rapidly changing work environment; and
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Desirable, but not required:

Experience working in higher education;
Familiarity with current developments in library and information science, particularly developments relevant to the interests of CLIR and DLF;
Familiarity with both proprietary and open source education and training software tools, particularly Adobe Connect;
Experience managing collaborative projects involving geographically distributed partners;
Experience developing and customizing online educational tools and resources, including but not necessarily limited to synchronous and asynchronous discussions, online lectures and courses, webcasts/screencasts/podcasts, wikis, and collaboratively maintained bibliographies.

Location
The Curriculum and Research Strategist may work offsite, but must be available to travel frequently to Washington, D.C. and periodically to other domestic locations to attend meetings, conferences, and events. Occasional international travel may be required.

This position is a two-year contract appointment with an annual compensation range of $60,000–70,000, with the possibility for benefits upon successful completion of a probationary period of employment.
