The Bryn Mawr College Library is offering a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship that will focus on activities relating to the history of the College and higher education for women. The Fellow will work on a variety of projects tied to the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the College's founding, including an exhibition of highlights from the rare book, manuscript, art and artifact collections; an oral history project on the College's history since the 1960s; an illustrated history of the College; and an international conference on the history and future of higher education for women. The Fellow will be part of the Special Collections Department, and will work collaboratively with staff in this and other departments on all of these projects. The Fellow will also participate in all other aspects of the department's work, including class presentations and reader services, and will be introduced to the broader range of issues relating to libraries and collections programs in academic institutions.

The Fellow may come from any discipline in the Humanities, and should have a strong background in historical research. Experience in conducting oral histories and an interest in women's history and the history of higher education are especially desirable.

Environment: The Bryn Mawr College Library http://www.brynmawr.edu/library/ is at once a strong undergraduate college library and a research library in a number of fields in the humanities and the sciences. The Library is a part of Bryn Mawr's Information Services, a department that was organized in 2001 to bring together the library, computing, and instructional technology operations. The library works closely with the libraries of Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges through the Tri-College Consortium, one of the most influential academic library consortia in the country.

Bryn Mawr College is a private liberal arts institution located approximately 11 miles west of Philadelphia, PA, and it serves a population of 1,800 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
