Information for Applicants
The Council on Library and Information Resources has established
a fellowship to honor A. R. Zipf, a pioneer in information
management systems. He was a guiding force in many of the dramatic
technological changes that occurred in the banking industry
over the course of his forty-year career with the Bank of America.
The fellowship is awarded annually to a student who is enrolled
in graduate school, in the early stages of study, and who shows
exceptional promise for leadership and technical achievement
in information management.
The amount of the award in 2008 will be $10,000.
Participant Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the
United States.
Program Timeline
Applications and all accompanying information must be submitted
to CLIR, postmarked no later than April 18, 2008.
The winner will be notified by May 30, 2008.
Application and Selection Process
A complete application consists
of the following items:
- a completed and submitted online application form
- four letters of reference
- undergraduate and graduate school transcripts
- scores of Graduate Record Examinations if you have taken them
All supporting documentation must be sent to CLIR by mail and postmarked no later than April 18, 2008. To meet the deadline, the applicant may need to make arrangements for transcripts and references well in advance.
Applicants must supply their reference providers with instructions
in the document entitled "Reference Form," which may be downloaded through the online application form.
All reference letters must be received by CLIR as signed, sealed originals.
