Learning and Libraries, Fifth Annual Sponsors’ Symposium

April 13, 2004

Several trends in learning will have a profound effect on how libraries position themselves for the future. Among them are a dramatic growth in the number and type of information resources being created, changes in how students learn, an increase in hands-on learning, and changing demographics of students. In this symposium, seven speakers addressed these trends and their implications for the library. The presentations were intended to stimulate thinking and discussion about the ways in which libraries will need to change if they are to play as vital a role in the future as they have in the past.
