Since 2002, CLIR has facilitated a semiannual forum of directors of organizations that have merged their library and information technology (IT) units on the campuses of liberal arts colleges and small universities. At their meetings and through a listserv, members discuss library and computing issues as an integrated whole. They have explored such topics as recent changes in merged organizations, strategic and tactical issues concerning cloud computing, trends in the uses of technology in teaching, and effective ways to provide faculty support.

Member CIOs also participate in a Web-based quantitative survey that Bryn Mawr College conducts to measure how students, faculty, and staff use and evaluate the services and resources of colleges and universities that have merged their libraries and computing units.
