CLIR Board Elects New Members

Washington, DC, May 8, 2014-The Board of the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) elected the following new members at its spring meeting:

Dan Cohen, executive director, Digital Public Library of America

Darby English, Starr Director of the Research and Academic Program, Clark Art Institute

Emilie Gordenker, director of the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis

James Hilton, dean of university libraries and professor, University of Michigan

Anne R. Kenney, Kroch University Librarian, Cornell University

Max Marmor, president, Kress Foundation

Daniel Weiss, president, Haverford College

Gene Wiemers, vice president for information and library services and librarian, Bates College

“We congratulate the new Board members and look forward to welcoming them at our November meeting,” said CLIR Board Chairman Herman Pabbruwe.

“The incoming board members bring to CLIR an extraordinary depth of experience and accomplishment,” said CLIR President Chuck Henry. They also embody a compelling spectrum of disciplinary and professional leadership that will help broaden CLIR’s outreach and service to our constituencies. I am delighted that such a distinguished group has agreed to serve.”

The Board also renewed the three-year terms of current members David Rumsey, president of Cartography Associates and founder of the David Rumsey Map Collection; and John Vaughn, executive vice president of the Association of American Universities.

CLIR is an independent, nonprofit organization that forges strategies to enhance research, teaching, and learning environments in collaboration with libraries, cultural institutions, and communities of higher learning.
