Registration for E-Science Institute Now Open

Washington, DC, October 21, 2013-Registration for the 2014 DuraSpace/DLF E-Science Institute is now open. The E-Science Institute is designed to help academic and research libraries develop a strategic agenda for e-research support, with a particular focus on the sciences.

The Institute consists of a series of interactive modules that take small teams of individuals from participating institutions through a dynamic learning process to strengthen and advance their strategy for supporting computational scientific research. Coursework begins with a series of exercises for teams to complete at their institutions and culminates with an in-person workshop. Assignments at local institutions help staff gain a high level understanding of what is needed to support e-science research.

The upcoming E-Science Institute will run December 2013 through April 2014. Registration is limited to 25 institutions. Visit  http://duraspace.org/e-science-institute for more details and to register.

Originally funded and developed by the sponsors and supporting institutions of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) / Digital Library Federation (DLF), the institute was previously available only to members of those organizations. In fall 2012, DuraSpace joined the partnership and the Institute became open to all institutions. This year’s institute incorporates improvements based on participant and faculty feedback from last years, and content updates.
