CLIR News No. 155 Jan-March 2024 Code4Lib The Code4Lib Annual Conference is scheduled to take place this year in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from May 13
We are excited to announce the first release of video recordings from the 2023 IIPC Web Archiving Conference at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision in Hilversum. You can view the recordings from our keynote speakers, Eliot Higgins from Bellingcat and Marleen Stikker from Waag Futurelab, and our opening remarks from Eppo van Nispen from Sound & Vision here, as well as recordings from our online day of sessions from 3 May.
We will be releasing recordings of select in-person panels and presentations and publishing presenter slides later in July. For the most up-to-date information on this, you can subscribe to the IIPC mailing list.
We had a wonderful time meeting in-person for the first time since the pandemic began, and were impressed and inspired by the excellent presentations, workshops, panel discussions, lightning talks, and informal discussions held throughout the conference. Our online and in-person days brought together participants from over 170 organizations and 43 countries. We are very grateful to our hosts at Sound & Vision and our conference co-organizers from KB, National Library of the Netherlands for all of their help in putting together the conference, as well as to all of our presenters, session chairs, and conference delegates for their focused time and attention.
The 2024 IIPC Web Archiving Conference will be held April 24-26 at La Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris. Our Call for Proposals was released on July 24th, 2023 (the 20th anniversary of IIPC’s formal charter). This year’s conference title is “Web Archives in Context.” The WAC 2024 Program Committee invites proposals related to five broad themes: Digital Preservation, Curation, Tools and Workflows, Research and Access, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. More details about the suggested topics and submission guidelines are available on the conference website: https://netpreserve.org/ga2024/cfp/.
We will be accepting submissions until September 24th, 2023.
