As an Affiliated Event of CLIR’s DLF Forum, the Digitizing Hidden Collections Symposium is being planned in close coordination with Forum organizers. This page will be updated frequently with guidance about our fall events related to COVID-19.

Update: July 23, 2020

Thanks so much to everyone who shared feedback about the kinds of virtual content you’d like to see this fall. With 84 Hidden Collections projects completed or in progress, we’re excited to bring together people who know and want to learn more about these collections for a day of conversations. On Friday, November 13th, join us online for a day of curated programming called 5 for 5: Conversations on Five Years of Digitizing Hidden Collections. This event will follow the virtual DLF Forum on November 9th and 10th and a virtual Digital Preservation on November 12th. All events will be free and open to the public.

We’re not releasing a new Call for Proposals, but we do want your input! While the Symposium will look forward to ‘What’s Next?’, this special virtual event will invite discussion between recipients and members of the wider community around five areas of interest. Complete our brief survey by August 10 to share your top five topics and let us know if you’re interested in organizing or participating in a conversation. Further updates about the in-person Symposium will be posted in early 2022. Stay in touch!

Previous updates

May 20, 2020

Based on the overwhelming responses to our community survey, the number and distribution of proposals for all CFPs, and CLIR’s ongoing monitoring of the pandemic situation, it has become clear to us that for the health and safety of our attendees and presenters, we cannot move forward with an in-person meeting in the fall. (See the DLF Forum site for the announcement.) Our contract for all events in Baltimore, including the Digitizing Hidden Collections Symposium, has been moved to fall 2022, and we look forward to gathering then.

Despite this postponement, we’re still excited to celebrate Digitizing Hidden Collections’ fifth year in the fall, and would love your feedback about the kinds of virtual content that would be most engaging to learn from the Hidden Collections community. Those who submitted a proposal in response to our CFP are especially encouraged to share thoughts about how/whether presentations might occur. This feedback is welcome via our second community survey, open through Monday, June 1.

Please take our community survey and share your feedback with CLIR/DLF on the upcoming DLF Forum and affiliated events, currently scheduled to take place in Baltimore November 8-12. We sincerely appreciate it.

Responses are encouraged by May 11, 2020, though the form will remain open after that date.

March 26, 2020

The Call for Proposals deadline has been extended by two weeks for all events, to Monday, May 11. Read the update.
