International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC)

• The 2023 IIPC Web Archiving Conference and General Assembly will take place at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision (NISV) in Hilversum, the Netherlands from 10-12 May. Registration is still open for the online day on 3 May which features international perspectives on web archiving under the theme “Resilience and renewal”.

• The IIPC annual event brings together world experts in web archiving and is intended for a wide audience including archivists, curators, software developers, researchers, and anyone interested in working with digital content. The 2023 program celebrates 20 years of IIPC and will be Consortium’s first return to an in-person conference since 2019. This year’s keynote speakers are Eliot Higgins of Bellingcat and Marleen Stikker of Waag FutureLab.

• The 2023 events are organized by the IIPC in partnership with NISV and KB, National Library of the Netherlands. More information about both institutions and web archiving in the Netherlands can be found here.

Open Repositories Conference 2023

Following postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Open Repositories Conference will be in Stellenbosch, South Africa, 12-15 June. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Repositories unlocked for discovery and interoperability’.  OR2023 will focus on the practices of the international repositories community to develop and implement the standards, frameworks, architectures, and methodologies for open repositories to serve as knowledge representation databases for the structured web of data. The programme is now available online and registration is open. We look forward to catching-up with the Open Repositories community and welcoming new attendees to our first conference in Africa.
